2005 Season - Week 1
Most Fancied NFL Franchises
Unsurprisingly the combined wisdom of the BUMS make the Patriots and the Colts the most attractive offensive teams as 8 players from each found their way onto BUMS rosters on Draft day. Green Bay provided 7 players while 6 were chosen by Oakland, Philadelphia and Carolina. All of the NFL teams had at least one player selected with Dave G selecting the only Bear (Muhsin Muhammad) and Ron the only owner to select a 49er (Kevin Barlow).
Goodbye Jerry
The greatest receiver to ever put on cleats retired from the NFL the week before the season opened. Jerry Rice dominated his position like no one else has done. He holds too many records to name but here are a few of his feats that highlight his genius:-
208 Total TD’s - 33 more than 2nd placed Emmitt Smith (175). That’s 19% more…
197 Receiving TD’s - 67 more than Cris Carter (130). That’s 51% more…
22,895 Receiving yards - 7,961 more than Tim Brown (14,934). That’s 53% more…
1,549 Receptions - 448 more than Cris Carter (1,101). That’s 40% more…
274 Games with a catch - 91 more than Art Monk (183). That’s 50% more…
91 games more than second place - that’s 5 seasons and 11 weeks more!!
And of course Jerry was a first ballot inductee into the BUMS Hall of Fame in 2002. Trading Day 1Some people cannot wait for it to happen they’ve made a poor draft choice or they have already got a player injured. I know I’m one of them! Trading Day 1 will be before the week 6 fixtures on Sunday Oct 16th. We will trade at 3:30pm followed by the Sky doubleheader. Daz has lost his franchise receiver Javon Walker who snapped his ACL in Green Bay’s opener, AP has lost Rookie RB Eric Shelton who has been placed on IR with a foot injury while Cheryl (Lee Suggs) , Chief (Dallas Clark), Dave G (Jerome Bettis) and Daz (Rod Gardner) also have players who were inactive in week 1 through injury.
BUMS on Seats.
We will be at HQ from 6pm on Sunday evening to see the key AFC South battle as Jacksonville travel to Indianapolis followed by Atlanta @ Seattle.
